Cities face a wide range of challenges, including natural disasters, climate change, waste issues, and transportation infrastructure. These problems are caused by human activities, but they also affect all ecosystems on Earth and are problems that appear within ecosystem networks. In this roundtable discussion, we will exchange ideas on sustainable urban development that circulates life from the perspectives of 1) urban environmental conservation and 2) transportation infrastructure, and envision the future of regenerative cities.

自然災害や気候変動、ゴミ問題、交通インフラなど、都市を取り巻く課題は多岐に渡ります。山と海に囲まれ、観光客が年間通じて訪れる鎌倉市では、海ごみや砂浜の減少など海に関する問題、土砂崩れなど山に関する問題、慢性的な渋滞問題、オーバーツーリズムなど、身近な社会問題として感じている方も多いのではないでしょうか。
それらの問題は、人間の営みを起因としていますが、地球上の全ての生態系へと影響を及ぼし、生態系ネットワークの中で現れる問題でもあります。
本座談会では、「ウォーカブルシティ」をテーマに、持続可能で生命が循環する、再生可能なまちづくりについて、課題点やアイディアを出し合い、リジェネラティブな都市の未来を描いていきます。
※リジェネラティブな都市とは・・・
再生可能な都市。自然環境を再生しながら、自然のシステムと共生しながら人間の営みが行われる都市。
